The Number 23

After a few days of “the day job”, I finally got back to the writing. I had a productive weekend. I’m up to page 23. I’m trying to get into the habit of getting up early in the morning, like at 6am, and writing for a few uninterrupted hours. The only problem with that is I am a certified night owl and a movie fanatic. Getting up early means going to bed early, and that’s been particularly difficult. I can’t have both and remain creative and level headed. Been there, done that, for way too long. It burnt me out.

It’s not that I don’t like sleep. I do. I love it. But I want to do so many things, I tend to place sleep at a low priority. It’s clear I need to juggle things. Here’s a great article on the effects of lack of sleep. I was suffering from every one of those symptoms. The reward though, from rearranging my sleep patterns, is feeling quite energized when writing the next morning. It’s a huge paradigm shift, and it’s one I’ll have to get used to.
