The Haunting of Molly Hartley
Damn. This film was terrible. This film suffers from the false notion that startling the audience is the same as scaring them. It’s not. To scare an audience, you need to build up tension and suspense and serve up a nice payoff. You get none of that here. Instead, you get scene after scene of Molly getting startled by the cat, a bird, a boyfriend, blah blah blah. And in the end there is no haunting at all. No demonic possession, no ghosts, no paranormal activity. Just an ending that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. They really should have called this film “The Haunting of Molly? Hardly…”
