Superchannel Super Catalyst

I was able to make the deadline for the Superchannel Super Catalyst Emerging Screenwriter contest. I am not sure if is a yearly competition, since this is the first I have heard of it.

There were a couple of things I liked about this particular contest. First, it was free to enter. That was refreshing. There are not many contests out there that don’t have an entry fee. However, one of the entry regulations was a synopsis needed to be included. Therefore, I suspect that advancing in the competition will be based on the strength of the synopsis, at least in the early rounds.

The second appealing aspect was the prize. Four winning scripts are chosen and each receive a full story editing process with one of Super Channel’s Creative Development Representatives. What that boils down to is a four month story editing process that results in a new draft and a polish of the script. After the polish, one national winner will be chosen and will receive a table read of their screenplay with industry influencers present in the audience.

For the four scripts that win, it sounds like a great learning opportunity.
