The research continues

Over the past couple of days, I made some really good progress in researching my next screenplay. I took some downtime on the work front to do a hell of a lot of reading.

I have to also thank my wife for helping me see the forest for the trees. I was a little stuck, and her thoughtful suggestions allowed me to zero in on what was really important.

The reading was pretty heavy, academic stuff, and it was wearing me down, sucking the life out of me. My problem was reading the academic books like they were a novel. Instead, my wife’s suggestion was to first find out what parts of the the book were relevant and important, then within each chapter to read the conclusion first. If the information presented in the conclusion felt worthwhile to take notes on, go back and find the sections of the chapter that are important and read the details.

It’s total common sense, but I just didn’t see it.
