Devil
I have mentioned many times before that what you can’t see is often scarier than what you can see. However, I don’t mean a black screen, and that often what you get in this film. Give me something to get scared about, like characters scared as hell, instead of absolutely nothing. I had the “devil” character picked in the first five minutes, and so should you. The film is rife with cliché, and it just ends up becoming a waiting game for the credits. The ending “twist” is moderately interesting, and would have felt stronger if the rest of the film was less predictable. And, not including credits, the film clocks in at 75 minutes. 75 MINUTES! It doesn’t prolong the agony, I’ll give it that. It’s not much longer than a regular TV episode. And that’s what this feels like, a TV episode stretched for a theatrical release. Screw that. I don’t pay $16 to watch a TV episode in a theatre.
