Disney’s A Christmas Carol
This is Robert Zemeckis’ version of the Charles Dicken’s classic, and it is very faithful to the book. The film looks fantastic, although I could have done without the sprawling flying sequences through the cities and countryside that only serve those who saw the film in stereoscopic 3D. I particularly liked that they used the voice actors as inspiration for the character design. You can see a little bit of Jim Carrey in Scrooge come to the surface now and again, like a ghost. It was clear that they spent the most time with the Scrooge character, as the supporting cast is not as well animated (or performance captured). Some movements seemed a little wooden, and with a backdrop of such immense detail and reality, it takes you out of the story a bit.
