Holy Rollers

Holy RollersOther than this story centering on Hasidic Jews, there’s not much else that makes this film different than any other drug smuggling story. And the Jewish focus lacks the ability to make this film different enough. It interesting that this was based on a true story, but the viewer isn’t going to care if the story doesn’t capture that interest. The main character, played by Jesse Eisenberg, seems to be able to turn his moral compass on and off at the drop of a hat. Plus the kids in this film are unrealistically naive, and you never feel like they are in any real peril.
